French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou on Monday night, his first stop in a regional tour aimed at boosting cooperation on education, the digital economy and the environment.
After being greeted by Burkina Faso President Roch Marc Kabore, the French leader gave a speech in which he praised the democratic goals of Burkina Faso’s youth.
“Burkina Faso is a symbol of the democratic goals of African youth and no one can ignore what happened here a few years ago, and what continues to happen here. This democratic vitality, the vitality of Burkina Faso’s youth is the face of the African continent we want to see “,he said.
Macron’s visit, his third to sub-Saharan Africa since taking office in May, will be capped by an EU-Africa summit in Abidjan, where migration will top the agenda.
